BMW has introduced the seventh generation of its iconic high-performance sedan, the 2025 M5. This latest iteration marks a significant step in BMW's evolution, featuring an electrified drive system for the first time. The new M5, set to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024, combines a high-revving V8 engine with an electric motor to produce a staggering 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This hybrid powerhouse accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package.

The M Hybrid system, derived from BMW's endurance racing technology, integrates a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, managed by an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The V8 engine alone delivers 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, while the electric motor adds up to 194 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. This combination provides exceptional performance and efficiency, with a projected fully electric range of approximately 25 miles.

BMW has also enhanced the M5's handling dynamics with a stiff body structure, M-specific suspension tuning, and advanced chassis technology. The adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers ensures precise handling and comfort. The integrated braking system offers high precision and responsiveness, with M Compound brakes standard and optional M Carbon ceramic brakes for even greater performance.

The new BMW M5 is equipped with a luxurious interior featuring the latest in digital technology and connectivity. The BMW Curved Display, based on BMW Operating System 8.5, provides intuitive control and M-specific displays. The cockpit includes a new M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats, and a choice of high-quality materials for a premium driving experience.
