Ford has announced the release of the Puma ST Powershift, the most powerful version of the multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine to date. The model uses 48-volt mild hybrid technology to deliver 170 PS peak power and 248 Nm peak torque, in combination with a paddle-shift-operable, seven-speed, dual-clutch Ford Powershift transmission. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid technology in the Puma ST Powershift is optimised to offer greater performance than the 155 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engine. The vehicle delivers a responsive 7.4-second 0-100 km/h acceleration alongside 6.3 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 144 g/km CO2.

The Puma ST Powershift is equipped with the active exhaust valve technology from the Puma ST, which remains closed in Normal and Eco modes for everyday refinement but opens in Sport mode to intensify the sporty sound. Additionally, the vehicle has a high specification ST chassis, featuring a rear suspension twist-beam rated and specially tuned to enhance overall stability and driving dynamics. The chassis also includes unique damper and spring specifications, and a bespoke anti-roll bar. The Puma ST Powershift also introduces ST-exclusive Azura Blue signature colour.

Ford Performance Manager, Stefan Muenzinger, stated, “We’re using 48-volt mild hybrid technology not just to improve efficiency but also to enhance peak power and torque… The combination of a downsized engine and electrified technology helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions while providing accessible, everyday performance. Together with the recalibrated Powershift transmission, this package delivers smart performance and emotional ST fun-to-drive.” The Puma ST Powershift is expected to be available later this year. Prices will be announced closer to the release date.
