The new BMW 5 Series brings the fully electric BMW i5 to the iconic lineup, marking its first foray into electric vehicles. Combining sporty elegance and advanced technology, the eighth generation sets a new standard for sustainable premium mobility. The global market launch is scheduled for October 2023, offering all-electric drivetrains as well as options for highly efficient internal combustion engines and plug-in hybrid systems.

Performance-wise, the BMW i5 is available in two variants. The BMW i5 M60 xDrive impresses with 590 horsepower, achieving 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, and an estimated range of 256 miles. The BMW i5 eDrive40 delivers 335 horsepower and an estimated range of 295 miles. These electric powertrains showcase BMW's advancements in eDrive technology, delivering both power and efficiency.

The new BMW 530i and 530i xDrive models feature a new generation 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Equipped with the latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and an integrated exhaust manifold in the cylinder head, these models deliver 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes only 5.9 seconds for the 530i and 5.8 seconds for the 530i xDrive, thanks to the added traction of the all-wheel drive system.

The BMW 540i xDrive, available from November 2023, receives a significant power boost with its inline 6-cylinder engine. Electronically operated VANOS camshaft phasing improves emissions performance, while the engine generates a maximum output of 375 horsepower, an increase of 40 horsepower compared to the previous generation. The maximum torque is increased to 384 lb-ft, with an additional boost to 398 lb-ft when aided by the 48-volt mild hybrid system. The new BMW 540i xDrive accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

The new BMW 5 Series introduces innovative features such as the Highway Assistant, allowing hands-free driving at speeds of up to 85 mph. It also debuts the world-first Active Lane Change, activated using eye tracking technology, enhancing convenience and safety.

Pricing for the new BMW 5 Series models at launch starts at $57,900 for the 530i, $60,200 for the 530i xDrive, $66,800 for the i5 eDrive40, $84,100 for the i5 M60 xDrive, and $64,900 for the 540i xDrive.

Manufactured at Plant Dingolfing, BMW's largest European plant celebrating its 50th anniversary, the new BMW 5 Series embodies the brand's sporty and elegant design language.
