BMW introduces the iX2, the electric version of the second generation of the
BMW X2. This all-electric model marks a significant step forward for the X2 lineup, combining the sporty and stylish features of the X2 with the benefits of electric drive technology. The iX2 is set to debut in March 2024, and it offers a compelling choice for drivers seeking a premium compact electric vehicle.
The iX2, based on BMW's fifth-generation eDrive technology, features an electric motor at the front axle and one at the rear, delivering electric BMW xDrive all-wheel drive. This setup provides an impressive output of 230 kW (313 hp) with a temporary boost and a maximum system torque of 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes just 5.6 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h (112 mph). With a range of 417 to 449 km (259 to 279 miles) in the WLTP cycle, the iX2 offers not only performance but also practical driving range for daily use.
The iX2 incorporates innovative charging solutions. It comes equipped with a Combined Charging Unit that allows for AC charging at up to 11 kW as standard, upgradable to 22 kW as an option. DC fast charging is available at speeds of up to 130 kW. The vehicle also offers features like adaptive recuperation and a MAX RANGE function that extends the range by up to 25 percent.
Inside, the iX2 features a modern and digitally-focused cockpit design. Standard equipment includes the BMW Curved Display with touch-sensitive functionality, voice control through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and a new smartphone tray with wireless charging for compatible mobile phones. The interior provides generous and flexible space for five occupants, and the rear seat backrests can be split and folded for additional cargo space.
