Ferrari has unveiled the latest addition to its One-Off series, the Ferrari SP-8, as part of the marque’s Special Projects program. Here are the key highlights of the Ferrari SP-8:

Design and Naming:
  • The Ferrari SP-8 is a mid-rear-engined V8 car based on the F8 Spider.
  • The name SP-8 celebrates its 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, known for winning the prestigious Engine of the Year (IEOTY) award four times.
  • The client who commissioned the SP-8 hails from Taiwan, where the number 8 is considered extremely lucky.

Roofless Roadster:
  • The SP-8 is a two-seater roadster, lacking a roof.
  • The design focused on refining aerodynamics to ensure acoustic comfort and wind feeling comparable to the car's inspiration, the F8 Spider.
  • The design centers around volumes that crossover and fuse into each other, creating a two-tone effect with unpainted carbon-fiber.

Front Design:
  • The SP-8 features a full-width, cast aluminum grille with a strake theme and vertical movement.
  • The grille widens towards the flanks to better channel airflow to the front radiators.
  • The headlights have special masks and lenses, and the rear lights are derived from those of the Roma.

Wheels:
  • The SP-8 features directional five-spoke wheels exclusive to this car, inspired by classic Ferrari Sports Prototypes and the F40.
  • These wheels have heavily sculpted sections and large apertures to reduce weight.

Interior:
  • The central console has been modified to house the F1 gearbox commands.
  • The interior features seats with laser-etched Navy Blue Alcantara and gradient effect cloth, along with specific twill fabric carpets with an iridescent effect.

Unique Colors:
  • The SP-8 is finished in matte Argento Micalizzato, pairing with a specific carbon-fiber section with a glossy iridescent Blue Sandstone.
  • The color Blu Scuro Stellato links the two bodywork sections.

The SP-8 will be on display at the Mugello Circuit until the end of the Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2023 and later at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello from November 16, 2023, until March 2024. The Special Projects program allows clients to create one-of-a-kind Ferraris designed to their specifications, with each project taking about two years to complete.
